Scuba Diving Florida Seabase 2009

Return Home, August 12, 2009 (Easter)
Who: Older Scouts (14+), Venturers, and Leaders.
What: Drive to the BSA Florida Sea Base, Isla Morada, FL, for a week of scuba diving. We will either do the certification program, or the scuba adventure program if we have enough people who are already certified. The certification program involves class room, written exams, pool and open water dives. The scuba adventure is pure open water diving (including a night dive)! The drive to and from Florida will involve some night driving. We will do some sight seeing along the way: Gatorland Nationals, Swam Safari in the Everglades, and the Kennedy Space Center.

Bring: We’ll have a packing checklist to show what camping and travel items should be brought on the trip.
Cost: Estimated total cost of approximately $1500.00. This includes transportation, lodging en-route, Sea Base fees and most of our food.

Europe Trip 2009

When:

Leave Wednesday, July 29, 2009 (fly to Europe)

Arrive in Kandersteg, Switzerland, July 31, 2009

Leave Kandersteg to Tour Germany, August 09, 2009

Return Home, Saturday, August 15, 2009
Who: Older Scouts (13+, or special permission from the Scoutmaster), Venturers, and Leaders.
What: First, fly to Germany, then drive or train to the International Scout Centre, Kandersteg, Switzerland. Spend ten days camping in the Swiss Alps. Activities include, hiking in the mountains on glaciers, sleeping in mountain huts, and many other international scouting activities. Check out the web site: http://www.kisc.ch

Then tour Bavaria for a week and visit Munich, King Ludwig’s castles, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest, and lots of other places.

Travel: We will arrange for air transportation as a group, but if anyone wants to use their frequent flyer miles and meet us, that’s ok. In Europe, we’ll travel as a group.
Bring: We’ll have a packing check list to show what camping and travel items should be brought on the trip. We plan to rent tents from the International Scout Centre, but do most of our eating in the dining facility.
Cost: Estimated total cost of approximately $2000.00. This includes air fare, car rentals or train fares, hostels, Kandersteg fees and most of our food.

Canoe Trip to the Northern Tier 2009

Return Home, August 17, 2009
Who: Older Scouts (14+), Venturers, and Leaders.
What: Drive to the BSA Northern Tier Canoe Base, Ely, MN, the premier canoe high adventure base on the boundary waters between the United States and Canada. Enjoy a week of wilderness canoeing in the magnificent lake country. Fish for pike and walleye, and camp on remote islands. Check out the web site: http://www.ntier.org/

Cost: Estimated total cost of approximately $1000.00. This includes transportation, lodging en-route, Northern Tier fees and most of our food.
