Troop Car Wash

When: Saturday, May 3, 2008, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Who: All Scouts and Leaders
What: This is our annual troop fund raising activity in conjunction with St. Stephen’s Rummage Sale. We’ll cook and sell hot dogs and drinks (free for working scouts). Come before or after your soccer game.
Where: St. Stephen's
Bring: Wear a bathing suit, and shoes that can get wet.

Backpacking on the Appalachian Trail – Philmont Crews

When: Leave Saturday, May 24, 2008, 7:00 a.m., from St. Stephen's
Return Sunday, May 25, 2008, 3:00 p.m., to St. Stephen's
Who: All Scouts except New Scouts - Philmont Crew Shakedown
What: Hike with your crew. Different hikes for each crew. Use backpacking equipment, freeze dried backpacking food, water purification, moleskin. The 2000 mile long AT is the "grand daddy" of all long distance foot trails in the United States. We hike only a small part.
Where: Appalachian Trail in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania
Bring: Lightweight back packing equipment, rain suit or poncho, cup, bowl, spoon, extra socks, insect repellant, sun screen.
Cost: $30.00 per person due Wed, May 7, 2008. Bring money for McDonald’s.

Backpacking for Second Year Scouts

When: Leave Saturday, May 24, 2008, 7:00 a.m., from St. Stephen's
Return Sunday, May 25, 2008, 3:00 p.m., to St. Stephen's
Who: Second Year Scouts 13+ years old (12 with special permission)
What: Backpack in the Shenandoah National Park. Use lightweight backpacking equipment, freeze dried backpacking food, water purification, moleskin. This trip is an introduction to backpacking for our scouts
Where: Elizabeth Furnace State Park, Virginia
Bring: Lightweight back packing equipment, rain suit or poncho, cup, bowl, spoon, extra socks, insect repellant, sun screen.
Cost: $30.00 per person due Wed, May 7, 2008. Bring money for McDonald’s.

New Scout Camping Trip

When: Leave Saturday, May 24, 2008, 7:00 a.m., from St. Stephen's
Return Sunday, May 25, 2008, 1:00 p.m., to St. Stephen's
Who: New Scouts, Assistant Scoutmasters, Troop Guides
What: This is a special camping trip for New Scouts. Camp and cook with your New Scout Patrol.  Get your Totin' Chip. Work on outdoor skills and advancement. Fish and wade in a mountain stream.
Where: Elizabeth Furnace State Park, Virginia
Bring: Normal camping equipment (see troop list on the troop web site), your Boy Scout Handbook, a bathing suit and towel, fishing rod, pocket knife, compass (if you own one).
Cost: $30.00 per person due Wed, May 14, 2008. Bring money for McDonald’s on the trip home.
