St. Stephen's Community Fun Day

When: Saturday, Sept 6, 2008, 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., St. Stephen's UMC
Who: All Scouts and Leaders, Families and Friends Welcome
What: Come for fun, free food, games and rides. Come early to help out by setting up and working at the various activities, grill hot dogs, walk ponies, serve pop-corn, Help set-up the Troop Canopy for the DJ. The actual Fun-Day starts at noon.
Bring: Wear your Troop T-Shirt

Parent's Meeting

When: Wednesday, Sep 10, 2008, St. Stephen's, 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Who: Parents/adults
What: Parents and troop leaders discuss troop adult leadership opportunities and sign up to be a merit badge counselor, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee member. This is your chance to help in an adult leadership position with the troop.
Cost: None, refreshments provided

Quartermaster Work Session

When:

Wednesday, Sep 17, 2008, After School(3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.) at St. Stephen’s

Who: Troop Quartermasters and other who would like to help out.
What: We’ll meet at St. Stephen’s to load the trailer and pack the chuck boxes for the beach camping trip.

Camping and the Beach

When: Leave Friday, Sept 19, 2008, 4:00 p.m., St. Stephen's UMC
Return Sunday, Sept 21, 2007, 3:30 p.m., St. Stephen's UMC
Who: Scouts and Leaders
Where:

Pocomoke River State Park, Shad Landing Site, Snow Hill, MD

What: Last chance to enjoy the ocean beach while the water is still warm. Camp and cook with your patrol, work on advancement. See the miniature wild ponies of Assateague, hear a naturalist talk about “Scales and Tails,” and see live snakes and owls and hawks that live near the ocean. Go on a canoe trip to explore the brackish waters of Pocomoke River. This will be an excellent trip; don’t miss it.
Bring: Normal camping equipment, bathing suit and towel, toilet kit (shower’s available), insect repellant, sun screen. Paper and pencils for taking notes. Snacks, a book or a walkman for the car trip (3 hours).
Cost:

$45 per person due Wednesday, Sept 10, 2008, for park fees, canoes, and patrol food, and to reimburse drivers. Extra money for snacks on the road (McDonald’s).

PLC/Committee Meetings

Fishing on the Chesapeake

When: Saturday, Sept 27, 2008, 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.,from St. Stephen's UMC
Who: Scouts and Leaders (space on boat may be limited)
Where:

The boat is docked at the Calvert Marina, Dowell, Md.

What: The waters of the Chesapeake Bay await our able anglers. We’ll meet at St. Stephen’s and drive to the bay to board the “Jennifer Ann,” 50 foot charter boat for four hours of fishing in the afternoon. Bring: Bag Lunch, Snacks and drinks for the boat. Sea sickness tablets (bonine – take in the morning). Sun Screen, hat with chin strap, sunglasses. Sun Screen (spf 15 or more).
Cost:

$75 per person due Wednesday, Sept 17, 2008, for boat charter fee, and to reimburse drivers. Extra money for snacks on the road (McDonald’s).

Feeding the Homeless

When: Monday, September 29, 2008,  meet at St. Stephen’s

3:30 p.m. to help prepare food

5:30 p.m. to help distribute food

Who:

All Scouts and Leaders

Where: Homeless Shelters (motels) along Route 29, Fairfax, VA
What: We work in two shifts. Scouts who arrive at 3:30 p.m. prepare the food in the St. Stephen’s kitchen. Scouts who arrive at 5:30 p.m. distribute food to the homeless families. Parents are needed to help drive.
Bring: Wear your troop t‑shirt.

None.
